I really don't know what is going on with this place. The canoli's used to be amazing and probably the best I have ever had , then they changed the canoli shells to what seems to be a mass produced shell and not homemade like before. The canoli cream is still the best but the shells taste like a hard fortune cookie . Once I ordered a slice of cheesecake and it was sour . The rest of the pastries are not really too good. The cookies behind the counter are good, not the ones that are already packaged on the counter . The young girls that work behind the counter are gossip queens and talk about all the customers that come in, because I heard them. And the old hag that works there on the weekends needs to go. She is slow as shit and a crab ass. Unfortunately, there is really no place to get good pastries in this area anymore . It's just this place and the sugar bun. And the sugar bun is even worse . Both these places could not hold a candle to the Seviroli bakery of ozone park from the 80's and 90's. And also, this place only takes cash. Seems like they are hiding their income.
Seems like someone got the message there !!! Bitches are gone . And the canoli's are great !!!! -

Love John Da Baker & his entire staff !!!!
If you want a real deal Italian Pastry Shop you found it !!!
We've been loyal customers since 1989 and thank you for picking our neighborhood to be in business!!!
We've had tried just about everything this bakery has to offer; from custom cakes to all their Italian cookies & pastries & pies !!!!
Today we ran in to pick up a few St. Joseph pastries and boy were they fresh & delicious !!!
Our favorites are their Cannoli's, Lobsters tails and assorted sprinkled cookies !!!
JOHN, thanks for making me fresh Black & white cookies !!! ( yummy old school jumbo cake cookie with half chocolate frosting & half vanilla frosting with hint of lemon for those that just don't know !! )
Wishing you continued success & the best of health & happiness always !!! You deserve it !!!

Staff was very stand-offish maybe because I was Black I don't know. Customer service should really be worked on. I ordered a red velvet cake and asked her to write happy birthday. When picking up the cake it was already tied up. When asking her if I could see it she responded by saying it was already tied up. Like any other customer I would like to see what I'm paying for so I opened it... she seemed annoyed that I did that. Ultimately they would've received more stars if the cake was actually good. Red velvet is supposed to have cream cheese frosting and what I received was not that. So with the bad attitude and bad cake I will never go back there.
Ps. I threw the whole cake away. It was a waste of money. -

Wife and I wanted to get a special cake for our daughters christening and we chose La Torre to do the cake and cupcakes for the party. We and our guest loved the cake and cupcakes. Some commented how moist the cake was and has a 2nd slice
Next major party I know where I am getting the cake from.
Bring cash, cash only business, but it's ok with me -

Hands down my go to bakery. Prices are very reasonable. The desserts are totally fresh. The cheesecake with the chocolate covered strawberries and fruit on top is AMAZING! If they have it get it, I promise you'll love it! Stop in they have espresso and cappuccino, this place is a must. Shoutout to the staff too for always smiling and being helpful when I'm so indecisive on what to get.
